Intro
Earth-Centered, Earth-Fixed Coordinate System (ECEF) is a global Cartesian coordinate system with its origin at the center of Earth’s mass. The coordinates (X, Y, Z) are expressed in meters, making it easier to perform calculations and coordinate transformations.
Conversion to Other Coordinate Systems
ECEF coordinates can be converted to geodetic coordinates (latitude, longitude, and ellipsoidal height), which are more intuitive for describing positions on Earth’s surface and are commonly used in mapping, navigation, and GPS applications.
